Create a Product

Overview​

This procedure describes how to create a "Product" master in the Product Management of the Merchant App. Products are created per Model Number.

Purpose​

The main purpose of this feature is to organize and register product information as a Product master per Model Number, creating a state where it can be managed centrally.
By premising the use of SKU Templates and various master references, it unifies the structure of product information and provides a foundation for the stable use of product data in subsequent operations such as ordering, price settings, and Catalog management.

In addition, by aligning input items and composition rules according to a predefined format, it suppresses differences in judgment and input variations among personnel, reducing the management load in continuous operations.

Feature Description​

Unit of Product Master Creation​

In this feature, a "Product" master is created per Model Number.
The Model Number must be a unique string that does not duplicate other products.

SKU Composition by SKU Template​

When creating a Product, an SKU Template must be specified.
The SKU Template defines the combination of attributes (attribute composition) that make up the SKU.

Taking apparel products as an example, this corresponds to combinations such as Color and Size.
Currently, even when operating with Model Number = single SKU, specifying an SKU Template is mandatory.

Specifying SKU Property Values​

For attributes defined in the SKU Template, you can specify SKU Property Values at the time of Product creation.

SKU Property Values refer to the specific values linked to an attribute.
In the case of apparel products, this corresponds to Black, White, etc., for the Color attribute.

Language-specific Product Information Entry​

Product Name, Product description, Short description, and Notes for Catalog PDF can be entered for each Language enabled in the Maker Settings.
The data registered by language will be displayed according to the user's language settings.

Price Settings by Transaction Term and Currency​

Input forms for prices are prepared based on the Currency and Transaction Term settings in Core Preferences.
Prices registered for the product will be displayed according to the buyer's Transaction Currency and Transaction Language.

Settings for Images and Images By Symbol​

Product images can be uploaded on the spot.
Uploaded images are saved in storage, and it is also possible to specify images that have already been uploaded.

Images By Symbol, which are used as thumbnails for SKUs, can also be set.

Instructions​

The following sections describe the instructions.

Preparation​

Before creating a product, an SKU Template and the following masters are required.
The SKU Template is mandatory, but it is convenient to pre-register the following masters as needed.

  • Description of Goods (Description Attribute): This master is mainly used when creating "Export Documents".
  • Tax: This master is used for calculating tax amounts.
  • Category: An attribute master for grouping products.
  • Option: A master for defining product options that do not affect management as inventory (SKU).
  • Custom Attribute: A custom attribute master for products, used for "Metadata" and "Custom SKU Metadata".

In addition, Language, Transaction Term, and Currency input forms will be prepared according to the settings in Core Preferences.

Go to the Product creation screen​

  1. Click the Products menu.
  2. Click Create a New Product.
    You will be redirected to the "Create a New Product" page.

Enter Product Data​

The following sections explain how to enter product data.

Basics​

  1. Product Name
    Enter the name of the product by Language.
    Check Copy to copy the product name from the "Primary Language".

  2. Product description
    Enter the description of the product by Language.
    Check Copy to copy the Product description from the "Primary Language".

    Enable HTML Mode
    Displays a preview considering HTML tags on the right side of the input form.
    Use the toggle button to specify whether to enable or disable HTML Mode for items where HTML Mode input is possible.

    • Enable: The input field switches to HTML Mode. You will be able to enter descriptions using HTML tags and attributes.
    • Disable: Does not switch to HTML Mode. Enter descriptions in text.

    The tags and attributes that can be used are as follows:

    • HTML Tag: h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, br, b, strong, em, i, s, div, p, span, table, thead, tbody, tfoot, tr, th, td, ul, ol, li, dl, dt, dd
    • Attribute: style (Only color can be used.)

  3. Short Description
    This is the text displayed in the Product List.
    Enter the Short Description of the product by Language (within 25 characters).
    Check Copy to copy the Short Description from the "Primary Language".

  4. Notes for Catalog PDF
    Enter the product description to be displayed on the Web Catalog PDF by Language.

  5. Model Number
    Enter a code to uniquely identify one product.
    For example, an "Item Number" or "Model Number" would apply.

  6. HS Code
    You can enter an HS Code for each product.

    The HS Code is a number used to classify items for export products.
    It is mainly used for export documents. If not used, entry is not required.

  7. Delivery Date
    Set whether or not to set a delivery date for the product using the toggle button.

    • When the Set the delivery date toggle button is Enabled:
      Set the Delivery Date period as From (Start Date) to To (End Date).
      You can select dates from the calendar.

      If you want to allow the buyer to specify a preferred date within the delivery date period when placing an order, check Enable delivery date selection.

      Example (when the delivery date is January 1st to January 31st): It is possible to receive requests such as "The order date is January 5th, but I want delivery on January 25th."

    • When the Set the delivery date toggle button is Disabled: The Delivery Date will not be set.

  8. Country of Origin
    Select the Country of Origin from the pull-down.

  9. Description of Goods
    You can select the Description of Goods for each product.
    Select from items pre-registered in "Products > Product Attributes > Description Attributes tab".
    From the list displayed in the pull-down, select the relevant Description of Goods.

    It is also possible to create a new Description Attribute master on the spot by clicking the Add button.

  10. Apply Taxes
    Select from items pre-registered in Create a Tax Master.
    Check the taxes to be handled for the product being created.

Categories Settings​

Click Add a Category to add one input form for category association.
Each Category can be selected from items pre-registered in "Products menu > Product Attributes > Categories tab".

Since multiple categories can be registered, Add a Category as many times as necessary.

It is also possible to create a new Category master on the spot by clicking Create a new Category.

SKU Settings - Set SKU Variation​

Configure the SKU variation of the product.
SKU variation refers to the combination of the product and SKU Property Values.

  1. SKU Template (Required)
    Select the SKU Template from the pull-down.
    The SKU Properties defined in the SKU Template will be displayed.

    *SKU Template: Definition of a combination of SKU Properties (attributes) such as Color > Size.

    warning

    The SKU Template cannot be changed later, so be careful not to make the wrong selection.

  2. Select SKU Properties
    Check the desired SKU Property Values from among the displayed SKU Properties.
    By selecting SKU Property Values, the SKU variation for the product to be created is determined.

    *SKU Property Value: Values such as Black or White for Color, and S or M for Size.

    It is also possible to create a new SKU Property (Value) master on the spot by clicking the Add button.

SKU Settings - Data Entry per SKU​

Once the SKU variation is configured, a data entry form for each SKU will be prepared in table format.

  1. Enable checkbox
    This is checked by default.
    If there are unnecessary SKUs, uncheck them to set them to a disable state.

  2. SKU No.
    A unique code like Model Number_SKU Property 1_SKU Property 2_... is automatically generated by default.
    If necessary, you can also enter a customized SKU Number.

    Click the Regenerate button to regenerate the SKU Number with the latest combination of Model Number_SKU Property 1_SKU Property 2_....
    Data currently being entered will be overwritten.

  3. Barcode
    You can enter a barcode if one has already been assigned.

  4. HS Code
    You can enter an HS Code for each SKU.
    An HS Code entered at the SKU level takes precedence over one entered at the product level.

  5. Description of Goods
    You can select the Description of Goods for each SKU.
    Select from items pre-registered in "Products menu > Product Attributes > Description Attributes tab".
    From the list displayed in the pull-down, select the relevant Description of Goods.

    A Description of Goods selected at the SKU level takes precedence over one selected at the product level.

  6. Weight
    Enter the weight as a numerical value. You can enter up to four decimal places.

  7. Backorder
    You can specify whether to make an SKU ineligible for Backorder.
    To make it ineligible for Backorder, check the box.

    *Backorder: A mechanism where an order is accepted even when product inventory is 0, and the item is shipped as soon as it is in stock.

Option Settings​

These settings relate to product options.
If you do not incorporate them into your operations, settings are not required.

  1. Enable Option Setting
    You can specify whether to enable options using the toggle button.

    • Yes: Enables options.
    • No: Disables options.

  2. Selectable Options
    Select from items pre-registered in "Products menu > Product Attributes > Options tab".
    Check the options to be used.

  3. Option Variant Settings
    You can select option variants (item choices) defined for the selected option.
    Check the option variants to be used.

    You can set the option variants to be used for each SKU.

Price Related Settings​

Enter costs, Suggested Retail Prices, and Wholesale Prices based on the Currency and Transaction Term enabled in Core Preferences.

Basic Operation:

Click the Copy button to bulk enter the base price for all SKUs.
To enter prices individually for each SKU, follow the procedure: "Edit button > Enter Price > Set button".

Input Procedure:

  1. Manufacturing Cost (Purchasing Cost)
    You can enter the cost of the product. This can only be entered in the "Default Currency".

    By registering a Manufacturing Cost, when "Inventory" for a product is created or overwritten, it will automatically reference the Manufacturing Cost and reflect it in the inventory data.

  2. Retail Price
    You can enter the Suggested Retail Price (reference retail price) of the product for each Currency.

  3. Price
    You can enter prices for all combinations of Transaction Term and Currency.
    Enter prices for the combinations to be used in transactions.

    Price (Wholesale Price / Recommended Retail Price) is displayed when "Transaction Term: Wholesale Price / Recommended Retail Price" is enabled.
    Enter the Retail Price that serves as the basis for wholesale rate–based pricing.

Materials Settings​

  1. Add a Material
    Click Add a Material to add one input form.
    Materials are entered for each part.

    Since multiple materials can be registered, Add a Material as many times as necessary.

  2. Parts Name
    Enter the parts name of the material.

    Example (Apparel): Main body, lining, separate fabric, etc.

  3. Material Name
    Enter the name or composition of the material.

    Example (Apparel): Wool 50%, Cotton 50%, etc.

  4. Article
    Select the Article (customs classification) for the material from the pull-down.
    In the current specifications, you can only select from the following four options:

    • NONE
    • WOVEN
    • KNIT
    • LEATHER

    The Article is mainly used for export documents.

Metadata and Custom SKU Metadata Settings​

You can freely set unique items that do not exist in DEXTRE's standard input items at either the product or SKU level.

Both Metadata and Custom SKU Metadata can be selected from items pre-registered in "Products menu > Product Attributes > Custom Attributes tab".

  1. Metadata
    Register "Custom Attributes" per model number.
    If you are registering data common to all SKUs, register it in Metadata.

    Click Add an Attribute to add one input form.
    Since multiple attributes can be registered, click Add an Attribute as many times as necessary.

    • Attribute Type: Select the custom attribute to be used from the pull-down.
    • Value: Enter data according to the custom attribute.

    Click Add a new Attribute Type to create a new Custom Attribute master on the spot.

  2. Custom SKU Metadata
    Register "Custom Attributes" per SKU.
    If you are registering different data for each SKU, register it in Custom SKU Metadata.

    Click Add an Attribute to add one input form.
    Since multiple attributes can be registered, click Add an Attribute as many times as necessary.

    • Attribute Type: Select the custom attribute to be used from the pull-down.
    • Values by SKU:
      Input fields for each SKU will expand horizontally.
      Enter data for each SKU according to the custom attribute.

    Click Add a new Attribute Type to create a new Custom Attribute master on the spot.

Media - How to Operate Each Item​

  1. Image
    Perform selection/addition of product images and configure settings related to product images.

    • Select an Image
      Click Select an Image to upload images and select the images to be added to the product.

      Please check the Image Upload and Selection Procedure for details.
      It explains the procedure for uploading and selecting images to be added to the product.

    • Display caption form for images
      You can specify whether or not to set description text for product images.
      You can specify enable/disable using the toggle button.

      • Enabled: You can enter description text for each product image. Enter descriptions by Language.
      • Disabled: Description text for product images will not be set.

    • Enable customization of images to be displayed in the product list view
      You can specify enable/disable using the toggle button.

      • Enabled: Among the selected images, you can specify up to two thumbnail images to be displayed in the product list.
      • Disabled: Thumbnail images to be displayed in the product list cannot be specified. The first and second product images will be used.

    • Enable customization of images to be displayed in Catalog PDF
      You can specify enable/disable using the toggle button.

      • Enabled: Among the selected images, you can specify up to two images to be displayed in the Catalog PDF.
      • Disabled: Images to be displayed in the Catalog PDF cannot be specified. The first and second product images will be used.

  2. Video
    You can add videos to the product.
    There are methods to add a video link and to add a video file.

    • Add video link
      Enter the embed URL of the video.

      Example (YouTube): https://www.youtube.com/embed/xxxxxxxx

    • Add video file
      Select a video file and upload it to DEXTRE.

      warning

      Uploading videos with large file sizes will strain the server storage, so video links are recommended as much as possible.

      Server storage capacity is up to 50GB in the basic plan.
      If 50GB is exceeded, additional fees will be incurred (500 yen/month per 10GB).

  3. 3D/360° HTML5 URL
    Enter the HTML URL of 3D/360° images uploaded to the server.

  4. Images By Symbol
    Images By Symbol are used as thumbnail images for SKUs.
    You can add Images By Symbol based on the definition of the SKU Template.

Media Settings - Image Upload and Selection Procedure​

The procedure for uploading and selecting product images is explained.
It is divided into the following two cases.

  • When uploading and registering new images to DEXTRE
  • When using images already uploaded to DEXTRE

When uploading and registering new images to DEXTRE:

  1. Click Select an Image.
    The "Select a Product Image" modal will open.

  2. Click Upload an Image to switch the display.

  3. Click Select File to select the images to be uploaded.
    It is also possible to add them by drag and drop.

    • The standard aspect ratio for product images is 2:3.
    • The maximum file size for images is up to 3MB.
      Image files exceeding 3MB cannot be uploaded.
    • The recommended file size is up to 300KB.
      If an image exceeding 300KB is selected, uploading is possible, but a warning will be displayed.

  4. Image Aspect Ratio
    Used when you want to bulk change the aspect ratio (orientation) of the images to be uploaded.

    Select either Portrait orientation or Landscape orientation from the pull-down.
    By clicking Apply All, you can bulk change the aspect ratio for all images.

  5. Upload Image List
    Displays thumbnails of the images to be uploaded side by side.
    The following operations are possible for each image:

    • You can control the upload order by drag and drop to rearrange them.
    • You can individually change the aspect ratio (orientation) of images from the pull-down.
    • Click the trash can icon to remove it from the upload image list.

  6. Execute Upload
    When the upload order and aspect ratio settings for the images are complete, click the Upload button.
    The product images will be selected at the same time as the upload is completed.
    As a result, the selected images will be displayed in the media section of the product.

When using images already uploaded to DEXTRE:

  1. Click Select an Image.
    The "Select a Product Image" modal will open.

  2. Confirm that Select an Image is open.
    *It is displayed by default.

  3. From the image list, click to select the images to be used.
    Images that are selected will have a blue border.
    Images will be added to the product in the order they were selected. They can be rearranged later by drag and drop.

    If there are many images to be displayed, click the Next button to display the next page.

    tip

    Using "Search" and "Sort" for images makes it easier to find the desired image.

    • Search: You can search for product images stored in the brand's media storage by "Keywords" or "Date Created".
    • Sort By Created Date: When searching by a specified created date, you can specify Ascending / Descending to rearrange the image list.

    Once search conditions are specified, click the Search button to display the search results.
    To reset search conditions, click the Reset button.

  4. Execute Selection
    When the selection of images to be registered for the product is complete, click the Select button.
    The images will be added to the product.

Create a Product​

After confirming the input content, click the Create button.

If processing is successful, the product will be created.
If processing fails, an error will be displayed. Please check the content and try again.

Important Notes​

Model numbers must be unique strings​

The Model Number must be a unique string that does not duplicate other products.
Since creation will fail if the same Model Number exists, please check for duplicates in the existing product list before registration.

SKU Template is mandatory​

Currently, the creation and application of an SKU Template are required even for operations with Model Number = single SKU.

SKU Template cannot be changed later​

The SKU Template cannot be changed later.
If the wrong one is selected, the product must be recreated, so please be careful.

Establish operational rules for adding SKU Property Values​

In the SKU variation designation, SKU Property Values can be added on the spot.
Immediate master addition is flexible, but notation fluctuations and duplicates occur easily, requiring integration work later. It is recommended to decide on naming conventions and approval flows for color names, size names, etc., and to consolidate them in a common master before selection.

Troubleshooting​

Input fields for target Language, Transaction Term, or Currency do not appear​

They may not be enabled in the Maker Settings.

  1. Open Core Preferences.
  2. Confirm the following settings and enable them as necessary:
    • Enabled Languages
    • Transaction Terms
    • Enabled Currencies

The Create button cannot be clicked​

If there is an error in the input, the create button will either be unclickable or an error will be displayed during execution.

  1. Confirm that there are no missing entries for mandatory items.
  2. Confirm that the Model Number does not duplicate other products.
  3. Confirm that an SKU Template has been selected.
  4. If an error is displayed, correct the input according to the displayed content.
