Create a Product Category

Overview​

Explains how to create a "Product Category" master to group products in the Merchant App.

Purpose​

The main purpose of this feature is to allow for categories to be selected based on unified standards when creating or editing a product master by defining product categories in advance, thereby aiming to standardize operations and prevent dependency on specific individuals.

The created categories can be used as Filter conditions in "Search Products" within both the Merchant App and Buyer App.

Feature Description​

Product Category Types and Hierarchy​

Product categories are master data for classifying products.
Up to 3 levels can be defined, and the following category types are provided for each level:

  • Category
  • Subcategory
  • Subsubcategory

Specifying a Parent Category​

When creating a Subcategory or Subsubcategory, specifying a Parent Category is required.
A Subsubcategory can specify two levels, Category and Subcategory, as its parents.

Language Input for Category Names​

Category names are entered by language.
Enter the category name for each language enabled in Core Preferences.

Usage Locations of Created Categories​

The created product categories are used in the following features:

  • Specifying a category when creating or editing a Product master
  • Using them as Filter conditions in "Search" for products in the Merchant App and Buyer App

Instructions​

Move to the Categories Page​

  1. Click the Products menu.
  2. Click Product Attributes.
    The page transitions to "Product Attribute Settings".
  3. Click the Categories tab.
    *It is open by default.
  4. Click the Create a New Category button.
    The "Create a New Category" modal is displayed.

Category Input Methods​

  1. Category Type
    The category type of the product can be selected from the following three options in the pull-down menu:

    • Category
    • Subcategory
    • Subsubcategory

    If Subcategory or Subsubcategory is selected, specify the Parent Categories.

  2. Category Name
    Enter the category name of the product by language.

    If the Copy checkbox is enabled, text will be copied from the standard language.

Create a New Category​

After filling in each field of the form, click the Create button.
If successful, the new category will be added to the Categories list.

Important Notes​

Regarding the Category Hierarchical Structure​

Product categories can be defined up to 3 levels.
Category structures with 4 or more levels cannot be created.

In addition, a Parent Category can only be specified as a unique combination.
It is not possible to specify multiple categories as parents.
