Create Product Custom Attributes
Overview
You can create custom attributes to assign to product data.
Purpose
The product custom attribute feature is used for the following purposes:
- Integration of proprietary product management data: Centralize management of in-house management codes, supplier information, logistics categories, and other data as product data, which cannot be covered by standard items (such as JAN codes and prices). By setting it to "Private", it can be operated as internal data without showing it to buyers.
- Clarification of product information and improvement of searchability: Define product-specific specs (materials, seasons, size details, etc.) and display them in catalogs and on detail pages to accurately convey product specifications. Also, by setting these attributes as filter conditions in the search form, you can improve the searchability of products.
Feature Description
What are Product Custom Attributes?
Product custom attributes are a feature that allows you to create arbitrary attributes (metadata items) that can be assigned to product data.
A single product custom attribute supports both "Product Level" and "SKU Level".
*When registering common data at the product level (per Model Number), create custom attributes assuming registration at the "Product Level", and when registering different data for each SKU, assume registration at the "SKU Level".
Registering Product Management Data
Apart from standard product data items (product name, price, barcode, etc.), you can assign unique data required for internal operations and product management to products.
By setting the Attribute Type to Private, you can operate it as an item that is not displayed on the buyer's (purchaser's) screen but can only be checked on the maker's management screen or in the downloaded product data (XLSX).
Main usage examples:
- Internal management code: Identifiers for system integration, product codes from old systems, etc.
- Logistics and procurement information: Supplier codes, country of origin, warehouse shelf numbers, etc.
- Person in charge information: Product department, person in charge code, etc.
Customizing Product Information Display Items
You can add and display specs and supplementary information specific to the merchandise handled in product catalogs and detail pages.
Setting the Attribute Type to Public or Display on detail page only adds the item to the screens viewed by buyers.
It is possible to clarify product specifications that cannot be conveyed by standard items alone.
Main usage examples:
- Apparel: Fabric name, season, gender, washing instructions
- Furniture and Home Appliances: Dimensions, power type, necessity of assembly

Important Notes
It does not support multilingual expressions.
Custom attributes allow registering only a single attribute name.
Please note that multilingual expressions are not supported.
Similarly, it is not possible to register different values for each language for products.
It is necessary to devise ways such as registering in one language or registering by separating like "Japanese/English".
Troubleshooting
Duplicate Code Error
The Attribute Code of the custom attribute must be a value that does not duplicate within all custom attributes for Products, Catalogs, and Buyers.
If a duplicate exists, an error occurs during creation.
If no duplicate is found in the product custom attributes, please check if it is used in custom attributes of other classifications such as for buyers or catalogs.
