Create an Inventory Facility

Overview​

This section explains how to create a facility used for inventory location management in Inventory Management (New Method).

Purpose​

Use this feature to manage inventory by linking it to facilities and locations, and to manage inventory location information in one place.

By setting up location-management units in advance, the location information referenced in inventory operations can be handled using a common standard.

Feature Description​

What is a facility?​

A facility represents a higher-level unit for inventory location management.

In Inventory Management (New Method), inventory is tracked by linking it to facilities and locations.
Facilities can broadly include warehouses, stores, storage facilities, logistics hubs, regions, sites, and more.

Facility statuses​

There are two facility statuses: Enabled and Disabled. These statuses determine whether the facility can be used for inventory-related operations.

  • Enabled: The facility can be used for all inventory-related operations.
  • Disabled: The facility cannot be used for any inventory-related operations.

Inventory-related operations refer to inventory operations such as purchase orders, receipts, and transfers, as well as inventory allocations.

Instructions​

Navigate to the facility creation screen​

  1. Click the Inventory menu.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Click Facilities and locations.
  4. Click the New facility button.
    The "New facility" modal opens.

How to fill out the form​

  1. Code
    Enter a code to identify the facility. Code is required.

  2. Display Name
    Enter the display name of the facility. Display Name is required.

  3. Timezone
    Select the time zone of the facility from the dropdown menu. Select the time zone of the region where the facility is actually located.

  4. Storage condition
    You can choose from None, Ambient, Refrigerated, Frozen, and Light protected.

  5. Enable this facility for inventory operations.
    Set whether the facility status is enabled or disabled using the checkbox. It is enabled by default.

    • If Enable this facility for inventory operations. is selected: Sets the facility status to enabled.
    • If Enable this facility for inventory operations. is cleared: Sets the facility status to disabled.

Create a facility​

Review your entries and click the Create facility button.

If the process is successful, a new facility is created.

Important Notes​

Code and Display Name are required​

Code and Display Name are required. You cannot register the facility if either field is blank or contains only spaces.

Before creating a facility, make sure both fields are entered.

Facilities and locations settings are shared at the maker level​

The Facilities and locations settings are shared at the maker level, and any changes made are applied to all brands under the same maker.
