Edit an Inventory Segment
This page describes procedures for environments using Inventory Management (New Method).
If your screen layout differs from the one shown on this page, refer to the Inventory Management (Conventional Method) manuals.
Overview
This section explains how to edit and update an existing inventory segment in Inventory Management (New Method).
Purpose
The main purpose of this feature is to review existing inventory segments to match your operations and keep the classifications used for inventory management up to date as maker-level settings.
Continuously reviewing and managing inventory segments also helps standardize the classifications used in inventory management operations.
Feature Description
What is a segment?
A segment is a business classification defined by the user to manage inventory.
For example, even when inventory for the same SKU is in the same warehouse and location and is available for sale, segments let you separate it for business purposes such as:
- Regular sales
- E-commerce
- Wholesale
- Samples
- Campaigns
Use segments when you want to separate inventory for business purposes, even if it is not separated by physical location or quality status.
Segments are treated as settings in Inventory Management (New Method).
Segment status
There are two segment statuses: Enabled and Disabled. These statuses determine whether the segment can be used for inventory-related operations.
- Enabled: The segment can be used in all inventory-related operations.
- Disabled: The segment cannot be used in any inventory-related operations.
Inventory-related operations refer to inventory operations such as purchase orders, receipts, transfers, and inventory allocations.
