Configure Negative Inventory Quantity for Inventory Labels

Overview

This section explains how to set whether to allow negative inventory quantity for an Inventory Label.

Purpose

Defining the negative inventory quantity settings in advance unifies the handling of inventory data, helping to standardize operations and prevent dependency on specific individuals.

Feature Description

What is the Allow negative inventory quantity setting?

Inventory Labels have a setting item called Allow negative inventory quantity.

By enabling this, the configured Inventory Label becomes capable of holding negative inventory quantities as data.

Data updates and integration when negative inventory is allowed

When negative inventory is allowed, the following data updates and integrations become possible:

  • Inventory Order Policy with backorder enabled
When allocating inventory for orders that result in a backorder, the quantity is held as negative inventory.

Example: If an order for 20 is placed for an SKU with an original inventory count of 10, the inventory count will be updated to -10 as the difference.

For details on the Inventory Order Policy, please refer to Create an Inventory Order Policy.

  • Register Inventory and inventory import
Updates with negative inventory counts become possible.

  • Shopify Inventory Sync
Bi-directional updates of negative inventory quantities become possible.

Restrictions on negative inventory quantity

Inventory operations related to vouchers (such as Delivery Notes or Inventory Transfer Orders) do not support the negative inventory feature, so processes that result in the source label becoming negative as a result of an inventory operation cannot be performed.

In addition, the negative inventory setting cannot be configured for inventory labels related to "Consignment (Partner Inventory)."

Important Notes

Data handling when the setting is disabled

Even if the Allow negative inventory quantity setting is later changed to No to disable it, inventory data that already has a negative quantity will continue to be held in that negative state.

Regarding Order Policies other than backorder

For Inventory Order Policies that do not allow backorders, products that are out of stock cannot be ordered.

Due to the system structure, these are not eligible for negative inventory quantity.
