Bulk Import Product Custom Attributes (Excel)

Overview​

You can manage Custom Attributes for Products using a bulk import feature with an Excel file (.xlsx).
You can perform the following three actions simultaneously in a single import:

  • Create new Custom Attributes
  • Update existing Custom Attributes
  • Reorder the master list of Custom Attributes based on the sort order in the file

Purpose​

This feature is used for the following purposes:

  • To efficiently register a large number of Custom Attributes for Products
    You can register multiple Custom Attributes for Products at once, significantly reducing the effort of registering them one by one on the screen.
    This is especially useful during the initial setup when starting operations.
  • To bulk update existing Custom Attributes for Products
    You can efficiently change settings like Attribute Name and Display in Search Form for multiple Custom Attributes for Products.
  • To organize the display order of Custom Attributes for Products
    By adjusting the sort order in the Excel file, you can bulk change the display order within the DEXTRE Merchant App.

Instructions​

The bulk import of Custom Attributes for Products follows the flow below.

  1. Download the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes
  2. Edit the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes
  3. Import the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes into DEXTRE

1. Download the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes​

  1. Click Products in the header menu.

  2. Click the Product Attributes button in the upper right corner.
    You will be redirected to the Product Attributes settings page.

  3. Click the Custom Attributes tab.

  4. Click the Bulk Import Custom Attributes button.
    The Bulk Import Custom Attributes modal will open.

  5. Select the File Language from the dropdown.
    You can specify Japanese or English, which changes the language inside the XLSX file.

  6. Click the Download button.
    The XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes will be downloaded.

2. Edit the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes​

Open the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes downloaded in the previous section, 1. Download the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes.

Field Descriptions​

Refer to the following to enter information for New Registration or Update.

  • Column A: Code
    This is the identifier used as the key for the bulk import process.
    If you enter a code that is already registered as an existing custom attribute, it will be processed as an Update.
    If you enter an unregistered code, it will be processed as a New Registration.
  • Column B: Attribute Name
    The name of the custom attribute. It is used as the display name.
  • Column C: Applicable Target
    For the bulk import of Custom Attributes for Products, you must enter Product and SKU.
  • Column D: Visibility
    Enter one of the following three values for the publish setting for buyers:
    • Public: Published on both the catalog product list page and product detail page.
    • Public (Detail Page Only): Published only on the product detail page.
    • Private: Not published to buyers. This is mainly set for custom attributes used for internal management.
  • Column E: Display in Search Form
    You can specify whether to display it in the Product Search form within the DEXTRE Merchant App.
    Enter true or false.
    • true: Displays in the product search form.
    • false: Hides from the product search form.

For Update of existing custom attributes, the following columns can be changed:

  • Column B: Attribute Name
  • Column D: Visibility
  • Column E: Display in Search Form

The following cannot be changed. Do not edit them.

  • Column A: Code
    If a new code is entered, it will be treated as a New Registration.
  • Column C: Applicable Target
    This is because specifying Product and SKU enables the bulk import of Product custom attributes.

*Even for New Registration, please enter the fixed value for Applicable Target.

About Reordering Custom Attributes in the Bulk Import XLSX File​

During import, the master order of the Custom Attributes for Products will be rearranged based on the row order in the Bulk Import XLSX File.
Specifically, entering the following data will change the sort order of the Custom Attributes for Products master list in the DEXTRE Merchant App.

Sort Order of Custom Attributes for Products in DEXTRE Merchant App

Before:

  1. aaa
  2. bbb

After:

  1. bbb
  2. aaa

Ultimately, the overall sort order of the Custom Attributes for Products in the DEXTRE Merchant App will be updated according to the List Position specified in the next section, 3. Import the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes into DEXTRE.

3. Import the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes into DEXTRE​

Once you have finished editing the XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes, import it into the DEXTRE Merchant App.

  1. Click Products in the header menu.

  2. Click the Product Attributes button in the upper right corner.
    You will be redirected to the Product Attributes settings page.

  3. Click the Custom Attributes tab.

  4. Click the Bulk Import Custom Attributes button.
    The Bulk Import Custom Attributes modal will open.

  5. List Position (*1)
    Select one of the following two options from the dropdown.

    • Top of the list: Moves them before the custom attributes that are not part of the process.
    • Bottom of the list: Moves them after the custom attributes that are not part of the process.

  6. Select a XLSX File Select the edited XLSX file for Bulk Import Custom Attributes.

  7. Click the Import button.
    If the process is successful, the data will be updated according to the contents of the Bulk Import Custom Attributes XLSX file and the specified List Position.
    If the process fails, an error will be displayed. Please correct the Bulk Import Custom Attributes XLSX file according to the error details.

*1: This applies when there are custom attributes not included in the process (i.e., they are registered in the DEXTRE Merchant App but not included in the Bulk Import Custom Attributes XLSX file).
It specifies whether to move the custom attributes from the Bulk Import Custom Attributes XLSX file before or after the custom attributes that are not part of the process.

If no custom attributes are excluded from the process (i.e., all registered custom attributes are included in the Bulk Import Custom Attributes XLSX file), the processing result will conform to the sort order in the XLSX file, regardless of which option you select.

Important Notes​

Editable Columns in the Bulk Import Custom Attributes XLSX File​

For Update of existing custom attributes, the following columns can be changed:

  • Column B: Attribute Name
  • Column D: Visibility
  • Column E: Display in Search Form

The following cannot be changed. Do not edit them.

  • Column A: Code
    If a new code is entered, it will be treated as a New Registration.
  • Column C: Applicable Target
    This is because specifying Product and SKU enables the bulk import of Product custom attributes.

Troubleshooting​

Duplicate Code Error​

The Code for a Custom Attribute must be unique across all custom Applicable Targets: Product, Catalog, and Buyer.
If duplicates exist, an error will occur during import.

If you cannot find a duplicate among the Product Custom Attributes, please check if the code is being used for other types, such as Buyer or Catalog.
